"The Silent World"-Betty G. Miller's Solo Show of Deaf-Themed art at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC.

1975-1980s
Spectrum: Focus on Deaf Artists-an artist colony set up outside of Austin, Texas. Spectrum produced newsletters, summer festivals, workshops, and original works in ASL literature, dance, and visual art.

1985-1995
Deaf Artists of America (DAA)-an organization that published the newsletter Uncharted, hosted exhibits, and served as a clearinghouse for works by Deaf artists. The DAA had an art gallery in Rochester, NY from 1988 to 1992.

that led to the creation of the term Deaf View/Image Art (De'VIA) and manifesto.
